Jennifer Lopez on being a good mom while in a ‘difficult’ relationship

“As a mom, you always want to do the best you can for your kids,” Lopez, 55, said British Vogue in an interview published on Friday, December 20. “You want to lift them up. But that doesn’t stop you from being a fighting man.”
Lopez has 16-year-old twins Max and Emma with her ex-husband Mark Anthony.
In her new movie UnstoppableLopez plays the mother Anthony Roblesa wrestler who was born with one leg and won the 2011 national championship.
Lopez said she contacted the Judy Robles“a true story about wanting to be the best parent you can be, even in the face of adversity.
“Being a mom and knowing what it’s like to want to give your children the best and always show them your best self, but also to struggle as a woman in relationships and in life with your own dreams and your own aspirations and what that means and what that feels like – explained Lopez – I think that was the most important thing for me.
Later in their interview, Lopez said she felt “very deeply” about Judy’s marital difficulties because she was “in the same place at times.” (Judy divorced her husband after 20 years of marriage.)

“Maybe I shouldn’t give this man a chance, you know what I mean? Maybe I should end it right now and go back,” Lopez explained. “I don’t think there’s a woman on Earth who hasn’t been in that position—or even a man!”
Anthony, 56, and Lopez split in 2011 after nearly seven years of marriage. Their divorce was finalized in 2014.
“When my marriage ended, it wasn’t easy to find forgiveness” – said Lopez V in May 2016 “It wasn’t the dream I was hoping for, and it would have been easier to fan the flames of hurt, frustration and anger. But Mark is the father of my children and that will never go away. So I have to work to make it right. And it’s definitely the hardest work I do.”
Most recently, Lopez’s two-year term ended marriage with Ben Affleck in August 2024 Since then, he called her performance in Unstoppable “spectacular.” (Affleck’s production company, Artists Equity, created the sports drama.)
Moving forward, Lopez said she wants to give herself more credit for what she’s had to go through in her personal and professional life.
“Now I think with everything that’s happened in my life, in my relationship and even in my career, it’s like giving myself a little comfort and love,” she said in October conversation for The interview magazine. “We’ve been through a lot of things that no one knows about and you persevere and refuse to give up and let it get you down.”
Unstoppable is scheduled to debut on Prime Video on January 16, 2025.
