Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have finalized their divorce

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleckthe marriage is officially over.

The couple settled their divorce on Monday, Jan. 6, according to documents obtained Us Weekly. The news comes 20 weeks after Lopez filed for divorce on August 20, 2024.

Lopez and Affleck, 52, have been in a relationship for more than 20 years. Lopez and Affleck met on the set Lilies in 2001 and got engaged in November 2002. They were originally due to marry in September 2003, but they called off their wedding day before the planned ceremony, and in January 2004 they confirmed their split.

They rekindled their relationship in May 2021 and became engaged again in April 2022. They married in Las Vegas in July of that year and had a second ceremony in Georgia the following month.

In May 2024, there was speculation about the state of Lopez and Affleck’s marriage after they were not seen together for 47 days. Us Weekly confirmed this later that month Affleck left at their home in Beverly Hills.

The source told exclusively us in June that they couldn’t “get on the same page (and were).” discussing divorce as an option.”

The following month, a second insider said there was “point of hope” for reconciliation.

“They are going through so much individually and as a couple,” a third source said us. “They may need some time to see if this difficult moment can resolve itself and they come back to each other (as) better people.”

Lopez after all filed for divorce from Affleck in August, listed on April 26 as theirs date of separation. Instead of using a lawyer, she submitted the documents herself two year anniversary the duo’s wedding in Georgia.

According to the insider, the filing date is no coincidence. “The terms of divorce was a big bang for Ben,” the source said us in August.

Despite the injection, the famous divorce lawyer Chris Melcher suggested in an August interview with us what Lopez’s decision to file the case without an attorney the recording was “deliberate to send a message that this was not going to be a fight.” Melcher believes that the couple has likely already “resolved most of the issues before releasing the statement.”
