Jay-Z’s lawyer presents a slide show denying the rape allegations

Jay-Z.
Karwai Tang/WireImageLawyer Alex Spiro shared a new understanding of how his client Jay-Z responded to the recent rape allegation against him.
“He’s upset,” Spiro, 41, said of Jay-Z, 55, during a press roundtable at Roc Nation’s New York office on Monday, Dec. 16. Us Weekly was present. “He doesn’t like that someone will be allowed to do this, they make fun of the system like that. He is upset that this is distracting and discouraging real victims from coming forward.”
Spiro added that Jay-Z was also hurt by the allegations affected his familyincluding the wife Beyonce and their three children: Blue Ivy, 12, and twins Sir and Rumi, 8.
“He’s upset that his kids and his family have to deal with this,” Spiro continued. “He’s upset, and he should be upset.”
During Monday’s roundtable, Spiro began by saying Jay-Z “did not molest the child” before launching into a presentation detailing alleged gaps in the accuser’s story. (The woman spoke last week acknowledging the inconsistencies in his account, but stood by his demands.)
The news about it appeared at the beginning of the month Sean “Diddy” Combs and Jay-Z were named in the civil suit where an anonymous woman identified as Jane Doe accused two rappers of raping her at the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards party when she was 13 years old. The lawsuit was originally filed in October, and only Didi, 55, was named in the documents.
Lawyer Tony Busby — who represents more than 100 people who say they were victims of Diddy — refiled the lawsuit on Dec. 8 to include Jay-Z. Both musicians have denied the “disgusting” allegations, and the Roc Nation founder has already filed for dismissal a court case. Jay-Z has also repeatedly criticized Busby for his involvement in the case, and Spiro came out with more criticism on Monday.

“This lawyer took advantage of it. That’s what’s happening here. And now you see that it’s starting to unravel and the truth is coming out, he’s starting to walk away from it,” Spiro stated. “He goes, ‘Oh, I’m sorry. This case was sent to our firm by another firm, so I did not particularly check it.’ That’s basically what he said, right?”
He continued: “He’s making an accusation like this, attacking a man with Mr. Carter’s integrity, and all he has to say for himself is, ‘Well, I didn’t actually check it. I got a referral trying to make some money. So we just went live.”
Spiro seems to have been referring to the statement that Buzby gave NBC News about the case after the accuser appeared for an interview.
“The Jane Doe file was referred to our firm by another person who reviewed it before sending it to us,” Buzby said on Friday, Dec. 13. memory. We will continue to verify her claims and collect supporting data to the extent that we have it. Because we interrogated her intensively, she even agreed to take a polygraph. I have never offered a client like this before.’
After Spiro’s roundtable discussion, Busby denied what he called the “baseless allegations” detailed in the presentation.
“This client was signed and referred to our firm by another law firm. This law firm made the initial complaint,” he said us in the statement. “However, four people in our firm also interviewed the client and checked the details after the recommendation was accepted. A check was performed on the client. We also brought in an experienced investigator to verify some of the details she revealed to us. These results were consistent with what the customer told us.”
Busby continued: “We have sent a letter to Mr. Carter’s attorney and offered to sit down to discuss the claims in confidence. Rather than accept this offer, Mr. Spiro decided to file a public lawsuit accusing me personally of extortion. He made this statement knowing that we are not asking for money at all and putting it in the public domain. This matter is completely frivolous. Next: At least three lawyers from our firm interviewed the client before filing an amended complaint naming Mr. Carter. The client also signed two separate affidavits. Our client remains steadfast in her claim. Mr. Spiro is trying to be a bully. But we will not be mocked. Our behavior has not caused any condemnation and will remain so. We will raise some of the behavior of our adversaries at the appropriate time, which is extremely worrying.”
