During a conversation with a sports presenter Charissa Thompson on the Thursday, December 19 episode of her podcast, “Not going to lie with Kylie Kelsey” Jason’s wife Kylie poked a hole in the story Travis told earlier.
Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis, 35, claimed the reason he wears No. 87 on his jersey is because respect your brother Jason, born in 1987.
Thompson, 42, recalled the moment Travis made the revelation in an interview with NFL Films that she was a part of.
“Travis then told me he’s wearing 87 because of Jason…that’s the year he was born,” Thompson said before Kylie interjected.
“Jason is still screaming,” Kylie, 32, said. “Jason is still outraged by this revelation. He said, “No, they gave you an ’87′” and replied, “And how can I remember that?” This is the year my brother was born.”
Whether the story is true or not, Thompson admitted, “Well, it’s a nice feeling. Nice story.”
Kylie agreed, replying: “That was so cute.”

“If there’s a Kelce legacy, two brothers that made it to the NFL, it all started in 1987 because that big guy was born in 1987,” Travis said of the 37-year-old Jason during an interview.
Travis and Jason developed a strong brotherly bond for many years, and never hesitate to praise their sibling in public.
Jason was thrilled that Travis made it to his third Super Bowl in February 2024. He described the experience as “a little different” watching Travis play than being in the big game himself.
“I like being a fan. The ability to cheer and just watch good football. I can’t wait to watch it,” Jason told NFL Network Cameron Wolfe at that time. “Every time you watch a loved one compete, you feel a sense of pride. This is completely different than competing (on your own).
Jason added: “Obviously my brother and I love each other a lot. We cherish these moments because we know they will eventually go away.”
Meanwhile, Travis lashed out at his older brother during his hosting monologue Saturday Night Live in February 2023.
“Jason and I have played football together since we were kids and he was always better than me — in everything,” Travis said of Jason, before quipping, “He was a standout in high school and I got kicked out of the team because I failed French. And then when we were in college, I was actually kicked off the team because I tested positive for marijuana.”
