JAL said it suspended ticket sales for all services on Thursday following the incident.

Japan Airlines (JAL) said it was hit by a cyberattack that caused delays to some flights.

JAL said Thursday that the airline was experiencing “disruptions in systems communicating with external systems” shortly after 7:30 a.m. local time (Wednesday, 11:30 p.m. GMT).

JAL temporarily isolated the router that caused the failure shortly before 9 a.m. and is currently “verifying the status of system recovery,” the Tokyo-based airline said.

“We have identified the scope of the impact and are currently checking the status of system recovery,” JAL said.

The airline added that there were delays to both domestic and international flights and suspended ticket sales for all services scheduled for Thursday.

More than a dozen flights were delayed at several Japanese airports, but there were no mass cancellations, public broadcaster NHK said.

JAL’s main rival, All Nippon Airways, said it was not affected by any cyber incidents and that services were operating as normal.

American Airlines briefly grounded all flights on Christmas Eve after experiencing a technical failure with network equipment.
