From the news about Batman Part II delay, social media was abuzz with jokes and concerns about what the hell was going on. Why does it take five years to make a movie, well the entire enterprise of TBECS washed up – people just want some answers. included threadsJames Gunn explained that the film’s script is not finished and that director/co-writer Matt Reeves is “committed to making the best film possible.” He further argued It’s “relatively common” for a franchise to have five or more years between installments, and he cites several as evidence: Unbelievable (14 years), the first two extraterrestrial movies (7 years), Avatar (13 years), and even her own Guardians of the Galaxy (6 years anyway not by choice).

It didn’t take long for commentators to pick up on this and argue that there was another franchises with less time between installments: your Marvel movies, your Star Wars (at least initially) etc. Still, Gunn’s overall point is basically “yeah, there’s lag, just relax.” Easier asked than done, especially given additional context: Reeves’ first Batman originally it was supposed to hit June 2021and was turned back twice due to COVID. This news also comes shortly after Sony announced directors for Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, which he would be out this year and it’s coming to…TBD. What’s more, Andy Muschiettidirector of the other big Batman movie previously announced Brave and boldrecently indicated that it has been sidelined for undisclosed reasons. For fans willing to absorb any information about these movies without knowing anything about them Spider-verse or Batflick – and without knowing it when they will know – it infuriates them.

Unfortunately for them, they’ll just have to make do. Batman Part IIisn’t the only superhero movie to be delayed, and several blockbusters have used this long wait between sequels to their advantage. (Example: the way the internet lights up for the trailer to the first Superman movie for over a decade.) Corny, as the saying goes, “let Reeves do the cooking,” that’s really all we can do. There will be other movies between now and October 2027. And if you need your fixation that robert pattinson is a weirdo you have Mickey 17 strike in March.
