Jaguars fire Doug Pederson after 3 seasons
The Jacksonville Jaguars fired head coach Doug Pederson on Monday after three seasons with the franchise, which finished 4-13 to conclude 2024.
Jacksonville lost to the Indianapolis Colts 26-23.
“It was a difficult task to inform Doug Pederson this morning of my intention to hire a new head coach to lead the Jacksonville Jaguars,” Jaguars owner Shad Khan said in a statement via ESPN. “Doug is undoubtedly a talented football player who will enjoy another chapter in his impressive NFL career, and I will be rooting for Doug and his wife, Jeannie, when that opportunity comes.
“While Doug and I wish his experience in Jacksonville the best, I have a duty to serve the best interests of our team first and foremost, and especially our fans, who have loyally supported our team and it is time to be rewarded. In that spirit, it is time to call in new leadership.”
Khan announced that general manager Trent Baalke will stay on.
Khan added: “I strongly believe that next season it will be possible to restore the winning atmosphere here not so long ago.” “I will work with general manager Trent Baalke and others within and around our organization to hire a leader who shares my ambition and is ready to take advantage of the extraordinary opportunity we have to offer in Jacksonville.”
