‘It’s just a relief’ after win over Leicester in 500th game in charge
Pep Guardiola admitted relief rather than enjoyment was the main emotion after Manchester City’s 2-0 win over Leicester in the Premier League on Sunday.
Savinho and Erling Haaland found the back of the net at the King Power Stadium as Guardiola’s side secured a much-needed win, just their second in the last 14 games in all competitions.
But City, who were celebrating Guardiola’s 500th game in charge, were a long way off. The Foxes put in a spirited display, particularly in the second half, and will rue a number of missed opportunities.

For the visitors, it takes some of the weight off what has been a turbulent period for the club in recent weeks.
Of the result, Guardiola told Sky Sports: “We needed it. All of us.
“It wasn’t the ideal performance, but at the moment it’s almost impossible to take it. Hopefully the wins will put our mood in a better position.
“It was tight. Twenty minutes into the second half they (Leicester) were much, much better. We don’t have enough energy to sustain ourselves for 90 minutes.
“But hopefully the result will help us bounce back in the new year.”
The City manager added that it was hard to be too happy with the win given recent results.
“It’s not nice, it’s just a relief right now,” Guardiola said. “That’s the real word to express the feeling we have.”
