I think Dina redirects her grief and puts her on Eli and is like, “Oh, I’ll help you.”
She said she appreciated that romance is a “slow burning” as opposed to The last of us Game, but she was glad that the HBO show kept the “Take on Me” scene of the source material.
“I was excited to shoot it and then I was also really emotional because the design of the kit was so beautiful and I felt really really sweet and gentle in the show after so much darkness and loss. So that day I was very emotional,” Merced explained.
She continued. “I noticed when I was looking at recently that there was a transition from the loving look to the sadness. I was trying to remember what I thought, and I think that’s exactly how I wanted to include that Dina was not fearless, really? She could look really important to them.
Speaking with The Hollywood ReporterMerced thinks about what is like shooting the first sex scene between Eli and Dina. “This is a really necessary step in their relationship. It’s also like really hot for me, because it’s like the culmination of all these feelings and secrets that have just been released for a moment,” she said.
The scene feels spontaneous, but not so behind the scenes, Merced said. “It may seem passionate right now, but it was really calculated and we were really deliberate for every single thing that was part of this sequence, because we wanted to make sure that none of the characters did nothing that was not in the character.”
