Apple got rid of the volume bar from the lock screen when it released iOS 16 in 2022. This meant you had to use the volume buttons on the side of your iPhone if you wanted to raise and lower the volume or podcasts without unlocking your iPhone.
Pressing these buttons increases or decreases your volume by a set amount, but this can leave you choosing between a volume that’s slightly too loud or too quiet. With iOS 18.2, you can return the volume bar to your lock screen so you can control the volume more precisely without unlocking your iPhone.
Here’s how to reintroduce the volume bar to your lock screen with iOS 18.2.
How to get the volume bar on your iPhone
1. Open Settings.
2. Touch Accessibility.
3. Touch Audio and visual under Hearing.
4. Tap the switch to Always show volume control.
Now, the next time you’re listening to music or a podcast at the gym or on the bus, you can change the volume using the slider on your lock screen.
