Instagram introduces teenage accounts with new safety features in India

Instagram said on Tuesday that the platform introduces its teenage account feature that has additional safety security measures for users in India, one of its biggest markets with over 350 million consumers.

Introduced the company Teenage Accounts last year in the US, UK, Canada and AustraliaS Meta migrated accounts of Instagram users who are under 16 years of age. These teenage accounts are private default accounts and have messaging restrictions, content control, interaction restrictions, time limit reminders and sleep mode.

“In META, the creation of a more festive and more responsible digital environment is a top priority. With the expansion of teenagers’ bills in India, we are strengthening protection, improving content control and empowering parents, while guaranteeing a more favorable experience for teenagers, “Natasha Jog, Director of Public Policy on Instagram, told a blog.

Teens’ account setting means that users under 16 will need permission for parents or guardians to change some settings in their accounts. Plus, users’ parents over 16 will also have the option to include teenage’s account supervision.

Parents can see who to interact with children, but they cannot see the message. They can also set daily restrictions on use and block the application during specific hours.
