India and the United States are understanding that they are working on an early harvest transaction, which will only cover the problems related to tariffs and it is possible to end until July. A more comprehensive agreement on a number of non-tariff issues between the two countries will be achieved in the next stage if everything goes well.

According to the sources, India wants to complete the discussions and conclude an intermediate agreement between mutual tariffs before the US start on July 9. However, sensitive items for India, such as dairy products and agriculture, should be stored on tariff negotiations, noting that every country would want to protect their interests. But as with a free trade agreement with the United Kingdom, India wants to receive lower tariffs for intensive exports of her workforce, such as textiles, leather and diamonds and jewelry.

The United States continues to be interested in lower responsibilities for its products, such as cars, including electric vehicles and whiskey, as well as agricultural products. India’s oil and defense equipment is another main point on the US wish list.

Further discussion on non-tariff obstacles, including issues related to technological, e-commerce and data storage, can be adopted after July.

Trade and Industry Minister Piush Gouali, as well as the delegation of Indian negotiators, is currently currently in the United States to work on a bilateral trade agreement.

“Good Discussions with Secretary Howard Lutnik to speed up the first tranche of the India-US bilateral trade agreement,” said Geala on Social Media X.

Before Galik left for a four-day trip from May 17 to May 20, the Indian talks team will return on May 23.

According to his reciprocal tariff plan, the United States has forced 26% tariff on India, but at that time it stated a 90-day pause on it. India wants to finalize BTA’s first tranche with the United States to avoid higher tariffs and protect the main export market. The United States is the largest trading partner in India and $ 131.84 billion in the last floor.
