India opens the world’s largest Hindu festival for 400 million pilgrims

India’s Kumbh Mela festival opened on Monday, with large numbers of Hindu pilgrims taking ritual baths at the confluence of the Ganges, Yamuna and Saraswati rivers. The organizers expect about 400 million participants for the world’s largest gathering of people.
