In Thailand, LGBTQ+ couples register their marriages because the law gives them equal status

Hundreds of LGBTQ+ couples in Thailand are expected to legalize their marital status on Thursday, the day a law giving them the same rights as heterosexual couples takes effect. The enactment of the Marriage Equality Act makes Thailand the first country in Southeast Asia, after Taiwan and Nepal, and the third country in Asia to legalize same-sex marriage.
