Hundreds of people gathered Hong Kong Watching the city’s first on Saturday pyrotechnics drone show as part of a campaign to support and raise awareness for panda conservation.
1000 spectators participated in the 10-minute drone show dronessome equipped with fireworks, flying over Hong Kong’s Victoria Harbour, forming images of the city’s giant pandas.
During certain parts of the show, some drones set off fireworks, while hundreds of others formed a three-dimensional panda that slowly rotated in the sky.
Some eager spectators arrived hours before the show to ensure they would get a good viewing spot.
Eddie Chow, a father who brought his two children to the drone show, said such shows could attract more tourists to Hong Kong.
“I think the diversion was great, the combination of fireworks and drones is a very special theme, there should be more of these activities in Hong Kong,” Chow said, adding that Saturday’s performance was his first experience watching a drone show.

Other viewers, such as Jodi Hung, a 20-year-old Hong Kong resident, described the drone show as “awesome”.

“I think the people who made the drone show had a very nice technique, very amazing, they combined art and technique,” Hung said.
After Beijing gifted Hong Kong a pair of giant pandas named An An and Ke Ke, Hong Kong has launched a series of activities across the city in recent weeks, including exhibitions and a panda-themed carnival.
The pair’s arrival brings the total number of giant pandas in Hong Kong to six, all of which live in the city’s Ocean Park, an amusement park featuring theme park rides and animal exhibits.
