How the Grinch Stole Christmas: The movie stars actors you forgot about
Live game version How the Grinch Stole Christmas has become a modern holiday favorite — but many of its stars often go unnoticed.
Jim Carrey takes first place as the main character in the classic Dr. Seuss tale, which was released in November 2000. The film grossed over $345 million worldwide, making it the second-highest-grossing holiday film of all time behind the 1990s Alone at home. Although it was initially met with mixed feelings, How the Grinch Stole Christmas was nominated for Best Director and Best Costume Design at the 2001 Academy Awards — and took home a win for Best Makeup.
Most viewers remember Carey’s unforgettable performance as a grumpy, green Whoville rogue, but he’s not the only big name to appear in the holiday flick. Kristina Baransky, Molly Shannon, Bryce Dallas Howard, Taylor Momsen and more round out the comedy’s stellar cast.
