On the third ball of the 13th over, Adam Milne bowled a full toss to Cooper Connolly as he edged his way into the gap. Hilton Cartwright sprinted to his left from sweeper cover and lunged to try and pull the ball back. He, however, pushed the ball into the cushions and immediately went down.

Cartwright injured his left shoulder when he landed badly on his left shoulder and also did some damage to his neck area. Immediately the physios rushed out to attend to the batsman and also the stretcher came out to take him off the field.

Hilton Cartwright was also forced to wear a neck brace. It used to be taken off in a mobile cart. Thanks to his fortune, he was conscious and talking even though he was lying with his eyes closed. Little by little they brought him and transferred him to the hospital.

Following his injury, Melbourne Stars provided an official update on the batsman and stated that he was taken to hospital for scans on his neck. The franchise also added that they will provide an update on the batsman soon.

The franchise’s statement read: “Hilton has been taken to the hospital for a neck scan. We will provide everyone with an update when we have more information.”

Hilton Cartwright did not have a great outing with the bat as he managed just 18 runs with the bat. She came to beat at 5 and looked creepy. Cartwright faced 17 balls during his time at the crease and hit just one four in his innings.

With the kind of knock he endured, it seems to have been a curtain call for him in this edition of the Big Bash League. Melbourne Stars would be hoping that he regains his fitness and returns to the team in the second half of the ongoing tournament.
