Guy Pearce and Carys van Houten split ‘for years’
Carys van Houten talks about his relationship with Guy Pearce.
The Game of Thrones the actress took to herself Instagram story on Wednesday, Jan. 22, to confirm that she and Pierce, 57, have not been together “for years.” The revelation comes after Pierce recently described his ex-wife Kate Mestitz how the “greatest love” of his life.
“I don’t normally engage in discussions about my personal life, but due to a number of conclusions made in the media last week regarding my relationship with Guy, I wanted to clarify something,” van Houten, 48, wrote next to a photo of her and Pierce .
She continued: “He and I are great friends and love each other very much, but we haven’t been a ‘couple’ for years. (Sorry I didn’t mention it earlier.)”
“However, I am very proud to say that we are in a wonderful partnership that nurtures the true love of our lives, our wonderful son and his hamster. The end,” van Houten concluded, referring to the couple’s son, Monte.
In an interview with Guardian posted on Saturday, January 18th by Pierce made a confession about the relationship with his ex-wife.

“My ex-wife, Kate, was the greatest love of my life, but now I’m gone from her, and the greatest love of my life is my child, Monte,” Brutalist – said the actor.
Speaking about his “biggest disappointment”, Pearce said he “felt like I had ruined my marriage”. He added: “I don’t feel that way anymore, but I was devastated at the time.”
Pearce, 58, and Mestitz met in 1980 while studying at Geelong College in Australia and married in 1997. In January 2015, the couple announced that they had parted ways.
“Kate and I will always love and support each other and be the best of friends,” Pierce said in a statement at the time. “No one knows me like Kate and we will always cherish our mutual respect. We’ve both grown tremendously through our relationship, but unfortunately it’s time to part ways.”
Pearce went with van Houten – the most famous of the game Game of ThronesMelisandre — and the couple welcomed son Monte in 2016 “A cute little package arrived that said his name was Monte Pierce. We think we will keep him. Does anyone eat placenta smoothies?” Pierce wrote through X in 2016, tagging van Houten.
