Greenland’s Prime Minister Wants Independence After Trump’s Buyout Comments

Greenland’s Prime Minister Mute Egede recently announced his intentions for the island’s future, declaring that it is “necessary” to take major steps towards independence from Denmark.

Egede’s words after his Dec. 22 post on Truth Social President-elect Donald Trump Focuses on secession from Denmark, advocating “ownership and control” of Greenland.

“The upcoming new election cycle should create these new steps together with the citizens based on the foundations that have already been created,” said Egede. “It’s time for us to step up and shape our future, including who we will work closely with and who our trading partners will be.”
