Just a few weeks After Openai has stated that it will accept the standard of competitive anthropic to connect AI models with systems where data is residing, Google follows a suit.

In an X post on WednesdayGoogle Deepmind Demis Hassabis CEO has announced that Google will add support for The context protocol of the anthropic modelOr MCP, for its twin models and SDK. He did not give a time line.

“MCP is a good protocol and is quickly becoming an open standard for AI Agentic ERA,” Hasabis wrote. “Look forward to developing it with the MCP team and others in the industry.”

MCP allows models to draw data from sources such as business tools and software to perform tasks, as well as from content and applications development environments. The protocol enables developers to build two -way connections between data sources and AI applications such as chatbots.

Developers can expose data via “MCP servers” and build “MCP customers” – for example, applications and work processes – which connect to these command servers. In the months after Anthropic Open Sourced MCP, companies, including block, Apollo, Replit, Codeium and Sourcegraph, added MCP support for their platforms.
