Golden Globes host faces backlash for ‘disgusting’ Diddy joke

Nicky Glazer came under fire for a joke she made about a rapper being afraid Sean “Diddy” Combs during her acceptance speech at the 82nd annual Golden Globe Awards on Sunday.

Viewers called the joke “pathetic and crude” and some also claimed it was insensitive to victims of sexual assault.

Sean “Diddy” Combs remains in custody ahead of his May trial on charges of racketeering, sex trafficking and transportation for prostitution.

When Glazer made a joke about Diddy while opening this year’s Golden Globes, she probably didn’t expect it to upset fans on social media.

The stand-up comedian joked about Diddy for the first time while praising Zendaya and her film The Challengers.

She said: “Zendaya here – Zendaya, you were incredible in Dune. Oh my God, I’m awake for everyone. And the Challengers, girl?

Amid audience reaction, Glazer doubled down on the joke by referencing Diddy’s infamous “freaks.”

She continued: “I’m sorry, I’m upset too. The party won’t be as good this year. But we have to move on – ‘Stanley Tucci’s gone crazy’ doesn’t have that sound – no baby oil this year, just a lot of olive oil.”

Concerned viewers immediately took to social media to express their outrage at Glazer for joking about the rapper’s sex scandal.

One user said: “The problem with these Diddy jokes is that people swear up and down that they’re making fun of the abusers, but they’re actually making fun of the abuse that the victims went through. He raped so many, including children. Nicky Glazer is painfully unfunny, but it’s pathetic and disgusting.”

Another user commented: “Ok Nicki Glazer seriously needs to be banned from awards like this for making such a HORRIBLE joke. This is completely insensitive to the victims of SA who have had such a horrible experience with this vile man.’

Another viewer wrote: “I didn’t know who Nicki Glazer was and I never want to hear from her again, I hope this Diddy joke destroys any position she got.”

Diddy’s “Freak Off” parties have been linked to the rapper’s alleged sex crimes

When Diddy was arrested in September and his indictment was unsealed, it was revealed that his infamous antics were at the center of the sex crime charges against him.

According to Page sixthe document also reports that law enforcement has seized more than 1,000 bottles of baby oil and lube used in “Freak Offs.”

To facilitate these events and handle other logistical needs, Diddy allegedly hired several people who were part of his Combs Enterprises.

The “Freak Offs” were also reportedly filled with instances of the music mogul assaulting women by beating, kicking, dragging and throwing objects at them.

Meanwhile, it was alleged, Didi “maintained control over his victims, including through physical violence, promises of career advancement, and the provision and threats of withholding financial support.”

The rapper also engaged in “surveillance of their whereabouts, dictated the appearance of the victims, monitored their medical records, monitored their housing and provided them with controlled substances.”

For now, Didi remains in custody pending a federal trial on May 5, 2025, but is expected to return to court on March 17.

If he is ultimately convicted of the sex crimes, he could face life in prison if the maximum sentence is accepted.

Witnesses called by prosecutors are expected to reveal more details of his crimes during the trial.

Meanwhile, the allegations will be addressed on the small screen in Paulino’s upcoming documentary about the rapper, “Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy.”

Many of Diddy’s inner circle have been interviewed for the project, which will also feature never-before-seen footage of the rapper.

The documentary is set to debut on January 14 and will be the first project to focus on the allegations against Diddy in 2025.

Didi’s lawyers criticized the upcoming documentary

Diddy’s lawyers have since responded to the upcoming Peacock documentary following the release of a trailer in which several of his high-profile associates were interviewed.

According to Daily MailIn a lengthy statement released Friday, Didi’s attorney said the “documentaries include unverified claims and provide a platform for baseless conspiracy theories without accountability or evidence.”

They added: “In the case of the Peacock documentary in particular, the motivations and credibility of those being interviewed must be questioned. Many claim knowledge but have no connection to the truth, while their wild, unsubstantiated theories are trimmed and sensationalized to appear factual.’
