Glenn Close says one movie made viewers realize she ‘could be sexy’
Glenn Close identified the film she believes made audiences finally realize she could be more than Cruella de Vil – her 1978 film Fatal attraction.
“I think it was the first time people realized I could be sexual,” Close, 77, said during an interview with today’with Willie Geist in the January 19 Sunday episode Sunday sitting.
The film stars Close as Alex Forrest, a woman who begins an affair with Dan Gallagher (Michael Douglas). She becomes more and more mentally unstable as it becomes clear that he is trying to end the relationship, ultimately leading to her demise.
The film started as a short film Diversion before the writer-director turned it into a feature film James Dearden. It spent eight weeks at number one at the box office and became the second-highest-grossing film of 1987, behind Three men and a child. Fatal Attraction grossed more than $157 million domestically and received six Academy Award nominations, including for Close.
In addition to reminiscing about her storied Hollywood career, Close recently opened up about her personal life. Before her marriage to Shaw, Close was married to James Marlas from 1984 to 1987 Cabot Wade from 1969 to 1971. She also has a daughter, Annie Stark Albawith an ex-boyfriend John Strong.

Close has yet to win an Academy Award for acting, despite having been stood out eight times throughout his career. In 2021, she said Diversity that she’s not too upset about losing. “It’s beyond me.
