TLCGinger Duggar opened up about what it’s like to follow her family’s modesty rules during a TLC group photo shoot.
“It’s always been a challenge to dress everyone in what they want to wear,” Duggar, 31, said on the Jan. 22 episode of her and her husband. Jeremy Vuola‘s podcast of the same name. “I was always a bit nervous about it because I didn’t know what wardrobe they would choose. So, I was hesitant to go into it.”
While Duggar, who is one of the Jim Bob and Michelle Duggarchildren, starred together with her family 19 Children and we countbrood would participate in promotional photo shoots alongside some of TLC’s other biggest shows of the time including Wife’s sister, Little people, big world, 90 day fiance and much more.
Jinger explained that while on set, the wardrobe team provided the clothes they chose for the reality stars. According to Jinger, they were “trying to choose what they think you would normally choose for yourself.”
“They had a whole Duggar wardrobe. So it felt more like Old Navy, probably even had some WalMart clothes in there, very cool, very streamlined Duggar style,” she thought. “They had our entire wardrobe and then they would have someone else.”
While there were many options to choose from, Jinger claimed that the size options would vary. She recalled one occasion when a dress was “two sizes too big” and she had to have it pinned to fit. The wardrobe team also hid their impromptu tailoring efforts as Jinger wore a jacket over the dress.

Jinger also shared that the wardrobe team had newsletters for her and her family that included their photos and sizing information. However, there were stylists who did not know about it The Duggar family rules that women could not wear trousers. (Jinger later added pants to her wardrobe after tying the knot with Vuolo in 2016.)
“A few of them didn’t understand that we didn’t wear pants,” she said, but noted that the chain never tried to force her to wear anything that wasn’t her style.
Jinger also stated that the wardrobe will return the clothing items after the photo shoot. However, if someone wanted to keep an item of clothing, they occasionally “let you keep the outfit depending on the value.”
While the fashion aspect of the photo shoots was a challenge for Jinger, she enjoyed seeing the other networkers, something she normally wouldn’t. Jinger compared the gathering of other shows to a “circus”
“Most of the time we were separated, they tried to give you your space so you wouldn’t bump into other people,” she reflected. “You could see people you know in your hair and make-up, in your wardrobe or on your way out of the tent.”
Jinger started working in the reality show in 2008 19 Children and we count the first premiere (with the original title, 17 children and we count). After 19 Children and counting ended in 2015, Jinger joined the spinoff series, Calculatingwhich was valid until 2020.
