Meet Angel. Also, meet Zeke. They are two of their kind. Angel and Zeke are the two heads of a California Kingsnake living in East Bay VivariumReptiles shop in Berkli, California.

Angel/Zeke (named after two store staff) is about seven months old, a remarkable age for a snake with its rare mutation. The bichephal (two -headed) snakes usually do not live long. The unusual reptile of Vivarium does not move as fast or as gracefully as one -headed kingsnake.

The greater right head of this Kingsnake is the only one who eats at that moment.

Reptile lovers know that animals can have a lot of personality. Most Kingsnakes are in a hurry to drive or run, Alex Blanchard told CNET.

He described the two -headed snake as “cool”.

“They are not shy. They are not bites,” he said. “They are quite calm for Kingsnake.”

Kingsnake’s right head seems to be dominant. This is the only one who takes food, but it can change when the snake matures. So far, Angel/Zeke has been eating every week.

“It will eat more if we leave it, but it does quite well,” said Blanchard.

California Kingsnakes are not poisonous. They are local in California and can be found in urban areas as well as in lawns and deserts or forest landscapes. Kingsnake coloring can vary, but they usually have dark and light strips. Angel/Zeke is what is known as Morph, a snake with a distinctive model.

At the moment, Angel/Zeke is not sold, although Blanchard said there were some accidental inquiries. Visitors to East Bay Vivarium can see the snake in person, but has access to a hide area when it does not feel social.

East Bay Vivarium shared pictures of Snake on Instagram At the end of March. Vivarium employees were surprised by the attention the snake generated.

“We hope that the people who come to see the snake will learn about other animals and other species, and this will open their eyes to a broader look at the reptiles both in captivity and in nature,” said Blanchard.
