Florence Pugh recalls doing eight scenes in ‘Sweaty’ with Andrew Garfield

Florence Pugh recently discussed the challenges of filming her upcoming film We Live in Time.

The actress recalled the physically difficult scene of childbirth with her colleague Andrew Garfieldwhich she had to shoot more than eight times.

This comes after Florence Pugh highlighted the difficulties of being a young woman in Hollywood and the importance of standing up for yourself.

Pugh spoke about the challenging but rewarding experience of filming the “sweaty” and “exhausting” scene with co-star Andrew Garfield eight times for We Live in Time.

Talking to The sunThe 29-year-old actress explained: “I’ve always wanted to do a love story. You really get a sense of the relationship and what point they’re at in the relationship through the style of their sex.’

However, despite the physical toll, Pugh, who plays Almuth in the film, described the experience as moving.

“It was crazy and it was amazing,” Pugh said. “The only problem was that I didn’t have a baby. So I was really exhausted and sweaty and tired and I didn’t have any endorphins or anything. We worked with the midwife.”

She added: “It’s exhausting, it’s amazing, it’s exhausting, it’s so beautiful to watch because it’s all about life. And it was like Andrew and I were getting ready for a baby, and it was really, really beautiful. It was as emotional as having a baby.”

Pugh also shared that during the intense birth scene, she worked with “seven dolls” and “one real baby” to make the image as authentic as possible.

During her appearance on the Reign With Josh Smith podcast, she talked about entering the entertainment industry amid the Me Too movement, stressing how important it was for her to stand up for herself.

The actress explained: “It’s very difficult. It’s also exhausting. It’s really, really tiring. Young women in this industry have so much to fight for, protect and defend, and then something to shout about. It is very, very difficult. It’s an experience, and it makes you push yourself. It makes you introspect.”

Reflecting on her experience, she said: “I’m proud of my stance, especially during the Me Too and Time’s Up movements, and navigating those moments with other women was vital.”

“Now I have to watch myself, I watch my heart and that’s where I’m at right now. I wouldn’t change a thing. I’m really proud of what I stood for,” Pugh added.

Regarding the progress made for women in the field, Pugh acknowledged the improvements, but emphasized the continued need to fight for justice and equality.

“Now we live in a time that is definitely getting better for women, but that doesn’t mean you don’t have to constantly fight for what you think is right,” she noted.

Pugh continued: “I’ve always been proud of the way I’ve defended myself, whether it’s on Instagram or in interviews. I’ve always prided myself on the fact that I’m not afraid to speak up for myself.”

Pugh also spoke about the importance of managing her mental health while juggling some of the intense roles she’s taken on.

Reflecting on her role in the 2019 film Midsummer, Pugh admitted she felt like she was “abusing” herself for the emotionally demanding role.

She shared, “I had to learn how to protect myself. There were some roles where I gave too much, and after that I was broken for a long time.”

The actress specifically recalled Midsommar and said, “I definitely felt like I violated myself in some ways in the places I went. The nature of figuring these things out is that you have to go, ‘Okay, okay, I can.’ don’t do it again because it was too much.’

“But I also look at this performance and I’m proud of what I did and what I was able to do. So I don’t regret it,” Pugh added.

Pugh discussed her decision to shave her head for her role in The Time We Live In, where she plays a woman battling ovarian cancer alongside Andrew Garfield.
