EU to test Facebook, X and others on disinformation ahead of German election By Reuters

BRUSSELS (Reuters) – The European Commission has asked social media giants including Facebook (NASDAQ.

Owner of Microsoft (Nasdaq:), Tiktok, LinkedIn, Google, Snap, Facebook As required by the European Union Digital Services Act (DSA).

“The stress test really goes through possible scenarios where DSA gets into the game and checks with the platforms how they react to these specific scenarios,” said spokesman Thomas Regerer.

The spokesperson of Tiktok said that he received the invitation and attended on January 31.

Representatives for Meta, Extraordinary, Google-owned Alphabet (NASDAQ:), X, Microsoft and LinkedIn did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

A senior European Commission official said senior compliance officers at the companies had been invited, along with other professionals responsible for implementing the DSA.

The test for the first-ever national elections, Regine said, took place before the European Parliament elections last year.

“This was very successful … So there is a will to do it together with the German authorities,” he said.

He added that the test will be held behind closed doors.
