Elvie’s latest product is a smart baby bouncer that transforms into a bassinet
Elvie, the company known for its popular portable breast pumpshows off new baby gear at CES. Called Rise, it’s an app-controlled baby bouncer that can transform into a bassinet with a baby inside.
The $799 device is designed for babies in their first few months of life. Elvie says the bassinet is suitable for babies up to 20 lbs or 6 months, while the bassinet is designed for babies up to 5 months or 22 lbs.
While in “bounce mode,” parents can customize the specific bounce pattern from the Elvie Rise Sleep & Soothe companion app. The company says its “SootheLoop” technology is intended to be a gentle motion that feels more like a caregiver’s motion than a repetitive robotic motion. There’s also a manual mode for babies to bounce on their own as they grow a little bigger and stronger.
In its press release, Elvie says its own research has found that two-thirds of babies between 0 and 3 months often sleep in “unsafe” products such as bassinets or swings. The Rise aims to address this, as parents can switch from cradle mode to cradle mode without—hopefully—waking their child.
The Rise is equipped with a “transition handle” that allows parents to switch the device between modes. While in bounce mode, this involves pressing down on the bottom end, near the feet, and squeezing the handle to pull up the sides to form the sides, the basket’s straps automatically retract to make it suitable for sleeping.
The company says its bassinet meets the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) safe sleep guidelines, although babies should not be left in a bassinet unattended. The unit is also designed to be more portable than a typical playpen. It folds up for easy transport and has a magnetic charger so it can be used even when it’s not plugged in.
Elvie Rise is now available for advance order. The company expects to begin shipping orders on March 14, 2025.
