The couple emphasize that none of the partners are trying to make the other be something, besides who they are – a practice that began for the first time when Sherrhi and Jackson started dating in 2004.

“I was in a relationship where I felt I needed to shrink because I was too much for the room. My dreams were too big, my voice was too loud,” the interior designer and real estate broker recalls. “It was the first relationship where I felt that my too big is exactly what he loved. It shows me unconditional love and it makes me feel comfortable where I can be my absolutely best.”

HGTV stars, which have been married for almost 15 years, recognize the need to connect if they can. “We have re -opened the power of creating our own personal space,” Sherryd shows. “He can sleep if he wants to sniff as loudly as he wants to play everything he wants on TV. And I can have my candles and my Solfeggio frequencies (to promote body health and mind) that play all night. I can sleep with a fan without a complaint.

“Laughter is great for the longevity of relationships,” says Sherrod (with Jackson). “We are big in that.”
