Eddie Hearn highlights how Tyson Fury’s 3-month marriage ‘sacrifice’ could affect Oleksandr Usyk fight
Tyson Fury is aiming for an unmatched level of concentration heading into his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk on December 21. The pair previously met on May 18 in an undisputed heavyweight title fight. Fury was defeated for the first time in his career after losing a split decision.
Ahead of the rematch, ‘The Gypsy King’ stated that he had not spoken to his wife for three months as part of his plan to prepare for the Ukrainian. Fury’s admission caught fans off guard and they speculated that his decision to isolate himself from family members could backfire.
However, top boxing promoter Eddie Hearn believes it could have the desired effect. The Matchroom Boxing president was recently interviewed by iFL TV ahead of Usyk vs. Fury 2, where he discussed the Brit’s comments about having no contact with his wife.
Hearn said:

“Everybody’s different, and when you’ve had that loss, maybe you leave no stone unturned. You just say, ‘I’m going to put everything into this training camp.’ I feel like when you get in the ring, if you know you’ve made sacrifices huge and sometimes horrible, do you think that gives you more strength in the fight, I think the answer is yes.”
