Dreo’s newest fan followed me to CES
The fan watches you — and does its best to cool you down. At CES 2025I stood still when a room fan detected my presence and spun to focus on me. It was a welcome relief, especially on a stuffy trade show floor.
Dreo’s motion-sensing fan, the PolyFan 707S, can tell when someone is in the room and even detect multiple people. I watched the motion detector bar as its lights moved from green to red, indicating where the Dreo rep and I stood in his line of sight. As she stepped aside, the fan turned its focus solely on me.
The fan uses millimeter wave radar to monitor the occupants of the room and adjust its direction. With a 150-degree viewing and flickering range, it can cover almost the entire room when placed in a corner.
Also, aside from motion detection, the PolyFan 707S is smarter than the average fan in other ways, too. It connects to Dreo’s app, allowing you to control it from wherever you are. It is also compatible with Google home page, Apple HomeKit and Alexa. Pricing isn’t available yet, but a Dreo representative told me to expect it to be between $150 and $200 when it launches in May 2025.
A tower fan that also heats up
This close-up view of the Dreo MC706 fan and heater combo shows the heating element inside the unit. This heating element can be slid out, allowing the fan to simply be a fan. When slid back, it can function as a heater.
I looked like a different Dreo fan tower transformed into a heater and then back into a fan. The secret lies in a mechanical heating device that slides into the front of the ventilation component of the Dreo MC706 2-in-1 fan and heater. It moves like a big, slow, bulky machine — reminiscent of the retractable door to Jabba the Hutt’s palace in Star Wars.
The fan quickly turns from blowing cool air (although this is not an air conditioner, just a fan) to blowing hot air. Dreo says he can make this switch in just a few seconds. The heater packs 1500W of power and comes with overheat protection and tip over detection as you would want from any heater.
It is equipped with a thermostat that allows you to set the temperature between 41 and 95 degrees Fahrenheit, and also includes a remote for added convenience.
MC706 is already on salewith an MSRP of $170.
A small heater for the whole room
If you’re looking for a more affordable heater that can warm an entire room while sitting on a table or desk, I’ve got one last look at another upcoming Dreo product that fits the bill. It’s a circulating heater — the SH615 — and is expected to retail for about $100, a rep told me.
Dreo’s SH615 Circulation Heater can spread heat throughout the room and fits on a desktop.
As a circulation heater, it functions as a compact fan with a built-in heating element. Instead of simply oscillating back and forth, it uses 3D rotation to distribute the warm air around the room at different angles. Its small size makes it ideal for placing on a desk or table, where it can provide constant, comforting warmth.
