Drake drops legal action over Kendrick Lamar’s Not Like Us

Not Like Us was seen as a decisive blow in the long-running feud between Drake and Lamar that dates back to the early 2010s.

In the lyrics, Lamar claims Drake “likes young people” and accuses him of using other, more established rappers to boost his profile.

Drake responded with his track “Heart Part 6,” in which he denied the allegations, saying, “I’ve never been with anybody under the age.” He also claimed he fed Lamar “false” information through a double agent.

However, his response failed to garner the same attention as Not Like Us, which debuted at number one on the US charts and amassed over 1 billion streams on Spotify.

The song is nominated for five awards, including song and record of the year at the Grammy Awards on February 3. A week later, Lamar will headline the Super Bowl halftime show.

However, according to Drake’s lawyers, the new lawsuit is not against Lamar himself.

“This lawsuit is not related to the artist who created Not Like Us,” the court documents state.

“Instead, it is entirely about UMG, the music company, that has decided to publish, promote, exploit and monetize claims that it understands to be not only false, but also dangerous.”
