DJI FLIP REVIEW: Follow me a folding drone

Fly More Combo comes with three batteries (each of which gives a flip up to 31 minutes of flight time), not one, a hub that can hold four batteries at a time (recharging them sequentially). And a sturdy shoulder bag, capable of settling around and everything. I think it’s worth the extra cost if you plan to use a flip regularly, but those who want a simple, affordable portal to the camera’s drone world can stick to the main package that includes a flip, RC-N3 controller (which is Attaches to your smartphone) and one battery.

Camera quality

The camera is built around 48-MP 1/1.3-inch Quad Bayer CMOS sensor capable of recording 4K/60p videos in standard modes and 4K/100p video to delay playback. It is mounted on a triosal gimbal for stability and smooth motion. It can capture fixed photos in JPEG and/or DNG RAW format at 12-MP or 48-MP resolution, and for video supports HDR, 10-bit D-Log M and HLG color profiles.

This is almost identical to the DJI MINI 4 Pro camera, the only key difference being the MINI 4 Pro ability to rotate the camera at 90 degrees to shoot a Native 4K 16: 9 footage for social media and the like; Flip can shoot 4K 9:16 frames, but only by cutting, which reduces the maximum resolution to 2.7k.

Avoiding the Mini 4 Pro Omnidirectionals also enhances the functionality of its camera, maintaining a better, more responsive tracking of objects, including faster-moving topics such as cars and motorcycles. This is simply not possible in the opposite.

However, in terms of video and photos, it is difficult to see a big difference between the two models. Compared to a much more price DJI Air 3S, the details and the dynamic range of Flip may seem missing, but for a small drone in this price range I have no major complaints about the operation of its camera. The exemplary shots I filmed demonstrate its ability to have a strong dynamic range, sharp details and engaging, accurate colors; And compared to DJI Neo, Flip images are far, far better.

People who already own a DJI Mini 3 Pro or Mini 4 Pro will probably not see an advantage in changing the flip. However, this can be the perfect choice for beginners who want to get into drone photography and video, but they want a little more quality and flexibility than the ultra-free DJI NEO offers.

In short, Flip is the best new drone at the entry level of the market and is strongly recommended.
