Distribute Entertainment Reborn as an indie game publisher focused on the original IP
Admit funThe legendary company publishes titles as Mortal Kombat In the 1980s and 90s, he returned as the publisher of Indy’s game.
After more than two decades, a team of veterans from the industry merge to return one of Gaming’s most emblematic brands to publish original intellectual properties, said Alex JosephCEO of the new Los Angeles company in an interview with Gamesbeat.
“This is the resumption and revival of the ACCLAIM brand with a completely new team,” Joseph said. “Some players have an association with recognition in the past, but this is a brand new team.”
He added: “First of all, the new recognition will support indie developers and a new original IP. It will provide all the resources needed to bring their games to the widest possible audience. “
Just as other publishers closed their doors, Acclaim Entertainment officially returns with a vision aimed at reviving the landscape of the game and promoting new talent. Originally founded in 1987, the Recovery marks a new chapter for the publisher as it seeks to support Indie developers and take advantage of the classic franchises.
ACCLAIM will provide the resources needed such as funding, marketing and PR support, allowing independent studios to bring their creative visions to a wide audience.
One of the key goals for renewed recognition is to resurrect and revive its favorite portfolio of classic IP, which has enjoyed millions of players for years. To ensure that this vision comes to life, the ACCLAIM brought together an advisory advice consisting of respected leaders in the industry, including Russell Binder from Strker Entertainment, Mark Kaplan of Ridge Partners and Jeff Jeret at Global Force Entertainment.
Their experience and invaluable guidance will play a major role in shaping the future of classic franchises and innovative Aclaim endeavors. The ACCLAIM growth strategy is further supported by key partners Phil Toronto, a partner at Vaynerfund, and Eric Vogel, a partner at Jet Management.
Their experience in investment and management will help to promote an environment that matured in the cultivation of independent developers and stimulating long -term success together with the management of the Advisory Board.
The new ACCLAIM Entertainment board covers the entertainment industry – gathering icons, professional athletes, live music legends and forged veterans who have determined the intersection of video games and pop culture.
The two -time fighter of the Hall of Fame Jeff Jaret, with over three decades of experience in the industry of sports entertainment and video games, emphasizes how this wealth of expertise will shape the future of recognition.

“For more than three decades, I have had the privilege of being part of both the wrestling universes and the games, and now I’m excited that I am now a partner in the ACCLAIM revival, an iconic publisher known for launching some of the most legendary games of the 80s and 90s,” Jaret says in a statement. “From my early participation with the hit 16-bit WWF titles of the publisher to my experience, helping the TNA Wrestling series, which gave birth to the first video game fighter to become a full-time list, I saw first-hand the appearance of the games and fans on the game
Jeret added: “The resurrection of recognition is an opportunity to convey the same degree of passion and love to a new generation, and I am excited to participate.”
Used to lead the renewal and growth of the CEO’s recognition, is the veteran of the Game Industry Alex Joseph, which has brought more than two decades of marketing and posting hundreds of games on a computer, console and mobile devices.
“It is an absolute honor and pleasure to keep the fee for returning to the forefront in the game industry,” Joseph said. “We have the good fortune that we have an extremely talented team and that we have already signed a few incredible indie titles that we will soon reveal.”
Joseph did not know the original founders of recognition as he graduated from high school in the year he began.
Origin

Greg Fishbach, the original founder, who began to recognize Entertainment in 1987, did not participate. The old Fischbach company has published games like NBA Jam and Mortal Kombat. The latter was a controversial title that was so violent that he led to hearing in the Congress of Censorship. This ultimately led to a game evaluation system, as well as the case of the US Supreme Court, which directed children’s safety defenders against first amendment rights. The gaming industry won this case.
But the ACCLAIM ENTERTAINMENT itself was folded in 2004. Acclaim Games, a kind of heir, began in 2006, but it turned off in 2010.
Fischbach launched a new game publisher, Accelerate Games, in 2020, as he failed to get the old name of recognition. But the accelerated games were very quiet.
And the old ACCLAIM brands are scattered. Mortal Kombat is now Warner Bros. and NBA JAM is owned by electronic arts. Turok is held by Universal Studios. There were many more titles, such as BMX XXX, Judge Dred and Wizards and Warriors.
Returning it
The new recognition will take over a set of publishing services, general funding, QA, localization and more. As a secondary focus, the company will look for the older IP, including the older ACCLAIM GAME properties, and will try to revive them for a new generation of gamers, Joseph said. For the new recognition of dealing with old properties, this will probably take a lot of money.
“We look at the restart games. Part of the IP will not be available, “he said.
Joseph said the company could publish three or four games a year as it becomes speed but will not pump high -speed titles. It will focus on the original IP and perhaps established IP in each period of time. Russell Binder, advisers, has been involved in many games based on games like Five Nights at Freddy’s, and this is also a possible outcome for the creativity of New Acclaim.
“Everyone carries something on the table that allows us to look at different opportunities, whether it is licensing or some kind of transmedia,” Joseph said.
The company has collected funding, but still does not say how much. He has six people distributed in different places.
“Under the umbrella of recognition, we have a pretty big partnership for a development team we have with the Mega Cat Studios, so we will be able to join their development team, if necessary,” Joseph said. “They will also handle the outsourcing maintenance.”
Previously, Joseph was part of Graffiti Games, which raised $ 1.5 million in 2021. He helped to publish 16 titles during that time and left at the end of 2022. He started working on the new recognition project in 2024, first through consultation. And he spent the last year by investing all this.
“We were initially considering a brand new indie game company,” Joseph said. “No one seems to spend money. It’s the perfect time to start something new. Every developer I have talked to is super mental to recognize. This is one of the most exciting things I have done in my career. “
The company expects to release its first game this year, maybe around the third quarter. And actively looking for additional titles. It will not be easy as the market is very difficult when 17,000 games go out every year.
“Our goal is to publish revenue generation as quickly as possible and to pay additional games,” Joseph said.
