Former Indian batsman Dinesh Karthik has praised KL Rahul for their commendable performances.

On Day 4 of the third Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy in Brisbane, he stood tall as the top order crumbled.

Rahul has scored 235 runs in the three matches and has become India’s highest run scorer. So far he has shown his skill and ability in the series.

Karthik, emphasized the importance of appreciating Rahul’s efforts, and urged fans and selectors to support him constantly.

“I believe in him. We’ve got the opening that India want, and I hope they’ll back him. A year from now, if there’s a series where he has a couple of low scores, I hope people don’t have a very short. They have to value what he’s doing today, and that matters a lot,” Karthik said. “People tend to forget that a lot of Test cricketers are judged by what they do, and he has been as good as anyone who has ever played for the country in any period of time,” he added while talking to Cricbuzz.

KL Rahul’s shocking performance

KL Rahul had shouldered the responsibility of opening the innings for India in the challenging Test series. He has scored 26, 77, 37, 7, 84 and 4* in the series so far. The scoreboard reflects a mix of stability and resilience against the Australian’s dominant bowling.

Karthik also pointed to Rahul’s strength in overseas conditions, where Indian openers often struggle. “We always complain about their consistency. And I think that’s something that he assumes, and it hasn’t been that… The average suggests that 34 is what he’s averaging as we speak, but it’s a lot better than that. He is someone who is much, much better than that. But if you just take any indian team who wants to tour overseas, he’d be one of the earlier names you’d put on that list because you know what you’re going to get from him.”
