Daisy Ridley’s Star Wars movie has another new writer

The Ray-centric Star Wars movie has two constants: star Daisy Ridleyreprising her role from the sequel trilogy, and director Sharmeen Obeid-Chinoy. Everything else has moved into the great sands of Lucasfilm-inclusive its supposed date of issueand who will write the script. Today we have a new name to add to this latest growing list, in George Nolfi (The Bourne Ultimatum, The Adjustment Bureau, Ocean’s 12, Ascension) comes on board.

Nolfi is the latest writer to tackle the next project The departure of Stephen Knight in October 2024; previously, co-authors Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Gibson there was the concert. like The Hollywood Reporter reminds us, “The new story is said to take place 15 years after the events of 2019. The Rise of Skywalkerwith Ridley’s character now mentoring (a) new crop of Jedi.”

News of a new pen joining the Rey movie comes as Star WarsLong-term future plans on the big screen may be starting to take shape. The Mandalorian and Grogu will be the first theatrical release of 2019 The Rise of Skywalker; due out on May 22, 2026. and will be directed and co-written (with Dave Filoni) by Jon Favreau. Then, earlier this week, word slipped through the asteroid field that Ryan Gosling was negotiating to star in Sean Levy’s film Star Wars film, the story of which is unknown, but is believed to be a standalone story that is not directly related to the Skywalker saga.

As of this writing, that deal isn’t official, but Gosling potentially starring in Levy’s film could make a post-LucasfilmMandalorian and Grogu release schedule change… again. However, today’s update is a positive sign that the Rey movie is still in active development, and fans can keep their fingers crossed that Nolfi’s contribution will be the one to stick around this time. You can assume with great confidence that a lot more details on what’s to come Star Wars in theaters and beyond, will be announced in April Star Wars Celebration Japan.
