Croatia’s deputy prime minister has resigned over footage of him shooting from a car
Dabro, who is the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, said in a resignation statement posted on Facebook that he did not want to distract the government.
He said he was under “significant pressure and threats” over plans to reform the department.
The footage was released to the public earlier this week.
Dabro’s party is in a coalition government with Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic’s center-right Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) party.
In November of last year, the Minister of Health, Willy Bros, was fired on the eve of a corruption investigation.
Monday was Zoran Milanovic was re-elected president for the second termwinning almost three-quarters of the votes, beating his opponent Dragan Primorak, who is supported by the HDZ party.
After the result, Plenkovic said “Milanovic does not offer anything” and refused to congratulate him. In Croatia, presidents play a mostly ceremonial role.
