Costco shoppers are in an uproar online following recent reports that the company has removed a popular in-store feature in multiple locations.
Over the holidays, signs suddenly started popping up detailing how shared coffee grinders would no longer be provided for those who wanted to grind their coffee beans for free before returning home.
Reddit user @phteven1989 revealed the unpleasant news last week with a photo of a sign that read, “Attention Members. Coffee machines will no longer be provided.”
“Oops, I don’t know what happened… but we lost our grinder privileges,” a Reddit user said in a post last Tuesday.

Another Reddit user also confirmed the discovery in another thread, where a shopper couldn’t find the service usually found near the cash register and food counter.
“What happened that they forced to remove the grinders?” asked user @StinklePink.
Both Reddit posts were quickly flooded with comments from fellow disappointed shoppers.

Although the benefit of membership was appreciated by many buyers who used it to quickly grind a two-pound bag. coffee beans Within a minute, a Reddit user who said he used to work in Seattle suggested the free service was canceled due to poor customer usage.
“The mills were broken at least once a week,” wrote a worker who goes by @Storkman1007 on Reddit. “Even with signs not to double up, people were doing it all day and plugging the holes.”
“Also, we had paint brushes that would clean floors and clean cars, and people would drop the brushes and grind them in their coffee,” the employee continued. “Those grinders cost several thousand dollars each.”

“Someone put out chocolate covered coffee beans at my local grocery store,” one user commented on a Reddit thread.
“Double grind, grind nuts, throw brushes,” wrote another Redditor. “Members can’t be trusted to not respect their property, basically.”

While grinding beans at home is also an option, one shopper said buying whole beans isn’t worth the effort.
“I won’t buy their whole bean coffee again,” said the user. “It’s a good price, but it takes forever to grind it at home. It’s not worth my time.”
