With the rising cost of living, inflation and widespread job cuts, extravagant weddings may seem out of reach for many. However, Gen Z is in a different league altogether. A recent video captured young people casually discussing wedding budgets ranging from $2 million to $6 million. Rs.The video soon caught the attention of stand-up comedian Rohit Shah, who happily raised his expectations.

Shah quipped that if he ever had Rs 6 crore, he would retire and live a quiet life in the mountains.

Reacting to the Instagram video, Shah said: “I have no idea why these Gen Z people are so delusional thinking about a wedding budget of 6 crores. For me, 6 crores is my life budget. If someone gives me 6 crores, I will retire. I’ll move to the mountains, open a coffee shop and spend my days playing cricket.” These people casually say “Croe” like it’s nothing, while us millennials don’t booking a cab, double-checking Uber and Ola prices and still end up taking the train wherever we want to go.”

“I feel like the IRS has planted undercover agents asking these kids about their wedding budgets to trace their fathers’ tax details and catch them for tax evasion. Then their fathers will be in trouble, and Gen Zs forever.” It will take everything to settle. So I tell you, stop this delusional behavior. If anyone asks about your wedding budget, just say, that it is 1.50 lakh and tell them you will order food from Shiv Sagar, paneer karagi masala for all,” added Rohit Shah.

Reacting to the post, one of the users wrote: (For 3-4 million rubles, my whole neighborhood will be able to get married).

One of the users jokingly noted: “Cafe on the hill and the vegetable garden is, I guess, every program born in the 90s.” (Opening a cafe in the hills and growing your own vegetables is every 90s kid’s dream.)

Another pointed out the practicalities of using such a budget wisely, commenting: “With 3-4 million rubles, you can buy a good apartment instead of spending it on an extravagant wedding.”

Another speculated about the confusion behind these extravagant claims, writing: “Perhaps they confused themselves, seeing Cr. millions of dollars in their passport. Please explain to them cr. means credit in the passport”.

One Gen Z respondent distanced himself from the claims, jokingly stating: “As Gen Z, we don’t demand them.”
