Cinemark said you decide what a popcorn bucket is, yeah freaks
The past few years have witnessed several big blockbusters tie-down popcorn buckets to attract audiences to theaters. Some have it looked goodothers were more sexual than you (or theater chains) would think, but they’re clearly doing their job because Cinemark will let theatergoers use whatever they have as a bucket.
Sunday, January 19th will be National Popcorn Day and the theater chain is marking the occasion with its first ever “Bring your own bucket” day. As long as the container is clean and does not exceed 400 ounces, you can get XL popcorn for $5 at all Cinemark locations. The same day offers 10% off all online gift cards, and anyone who follows the chain’s Instagram can enter a contest to win free large popcorn by tagging three friends in the comments.
“National Popcorn Day is one of the best days of the year at Cinemark and for popcorn lovers everywhere,” said David Haywood, senior vice president of food at Cinemark. “He’s always been the star of the movie theater concessions, even though the popcorn bowls have become an award-worthy supporting actor. We’re excited for everyone to get creative with this campaign and showcase their choice of container while enjoying the iconic breakfast with a great movie.”
Cinemark would a lot similar to being something he can do every year, as he also encourages people to share their buckets on BYOB day and highlighted several releases playing in theaters this weekend, including of Universal A wolf man. If you find yourself without a suitable popcorn bucket on January 19, the chain has also “helpfully” listed the buckets it sells on its shop.
