Chaos on the streets of Hollywood as people flee the Sunset Strip

Above us, sirens went off and helicopter wings flapped.

As I helped her to safety, she told me she was walking her dogs and planned to stop by the grocery store when she smelled strong smoke.

He returned home, looked out his window and watched as the fire raced across the Hollywood Hills to within a block of his home.

She packed everything she could: food, clothes, blankets, food for her three little dogs.

“I can’t believe it,” he said wearily.

Makayla Jackson, 26, caught her two-year-old son Ramari waiting for a ride on a street corner. They were evacuated from a homeless shelter that was in danger of burning down.

“They just told us to get out,” he said.

He said he headed to Hollywood High School, where he was offered more help.
