Celebrity real estate agent brings ‘small-town’ Tennessee life roots to big city business
Celebrity real estate agent Taylor Middleton, who stars in Netflix’s new series Selling the City, told Fox News Digital how she felt about leaving her “small-town” Tennessee life behind for the fast-paced world of Manhattan.
Celebrity real estate Agent Taylor Middleton has no regrets about leaving her small-town life behind to embrace the fast-paced world of New York.
Middleton, who grew up in Nashville, Tennessee, moved to Manhattan after graduating from Vanderbilt University. Since launching her career in 2013, Middleton, who stars in Netflix’s new reality series Selling the City, has closed more than $500 million in luxury real estate sales.
During an interview with FOX Business, Middleton recalled her experience when she first moved to the Big Apple.
“Growing up in Nashville, and it was such a small town when I grew up there, and then I moved to the big city, as they say, as soon as I landed here, like, “My God, I’m with my people,” Middleton said.

“People who go, go, go, and are so driven and ambitious,” she continued. most of my friends were having their second, third, fourth child and were married and living this country club life.”

“And to be honest, I always wanted that for myself,” Middleton added. “And I felt very different and separate [that]. And so when I came to New York, “Oh my God, everyone lives in such independent, different, unique ways and explores different things.”
“It felt like anything was possible. And so it gave me the strength to do more.”

Middleton noted that being successful in New York is like building a winning team in pro football.
“You can play high or low with the team you’re playing against,” he explained. “So when you surround yourself with smarter, better, more successful people, it’s just that some people can get depressed. under pressure. But for me, I really thrive on it because it inspires me to do better.”

“It’s funny because my parents moved around a lot [when I was] “Growing up in Nashville, I always thought they made terrible real estate decisions,” he recalls. [Nashville-based real estate firm] Frederick and Clark, go. “Hey, Whit. Taylor Middleton. I just saw an open house coming up in the paper. And so if you could get my mom and dad… and she calls my parents, like, “You guys are in the market” and they say. “No, stop her calls!”
“Like, this is funny,” he said, “So I was always a real estate junkie. But then, moving to New York, I kind of fell into it. Just being.” too naive, thinking. “Okay, I’ll figure it out. I’ve got this.”
Middleton explained that he sees unlimited potential in real estate, which attracted him because he was unable to work for many years due to a long battle with Lyme disease.
“I had a lot of lost time to make up,” he said.

On the show, Middleton spoke candidly about her marital struggles and her past struggle with Adderall addiction. Speaking to FOX Business, Middleton explained that her struggles with substance abuse drove her to succeed in New York’s tough real estate market.
“Everybody’s method for breaking the Big Apple is different,” he said. ‘Don’t miss the miracle, don’t give up before the miracle.’ And I think that’s what separates the people who make it in New York or who don’t.”
“And for some people, it’s just not for them,” Middleton continued. “And for me, it’s like, you’ve got to keep going, in the markets where you’re not making money. “.
“If you have that belief and confidence in yourself, if you just keep going and the universe is telling you that you’re on the right path, then it will work out.”

Middleton, who? numbers of famous people, CEOs and other wealthy individuals on his client list told FOX Business that he recently closed his biggest real estate deal to date.The TV personality was part of a development team that sold a Manhattan penthouse for just $17 million.
“It was definitely a team effort. I didn’t do it alone, but it was a big event for me,” he said.

While closing deals with high price tags is always a cause for celebration, Middleton explained that the sales he finds most rewarding are often the ones he’s made by building strong personal relationships with his clients.
“It’s not even about the sales number or the deal volume, it’s about the relationship,” he said.

Middleton recalled meeting a couple who rented an apartment she listed during the COVID-19 pandemic. Although she didn’t represent the couple in the transaction, they stayed in touch and contacted her when they were looking to buy property in Manhattan.
“We ended up finding them the most amazing apartment that worked for them and their family, where they started having kids, and then their parents got ‘pie’ here in New York,” Middleton said.
“They’re from the South,” he continued. “And so having the opportunity to work with multiple family members is the best because you’re really ingrained in the fabric of these people’s lives referred to family and friends.”

In an interview with FOX Business, Middleton recalled that she was working at another company before Srugo recruited her to Douglas Elliman. She didn’t expect her new gig to lead to reality TV fame, but she jumped at the chance to be part of the series when it did. :
“I joined [Srugo’s] team, and then from there, all of a sudden, this show comes on, and it was just like, ‘okay, I’ll take both,'” Middleton said with a laugh.

Although he mentioned that he was filming reality show Uncharted territory for her, Middleton told Fox Business that being a part of Selling the City was “amazing.”
“It’s been such a great experience,” he said. all the personalities and everything. Overall, 95% of it, I’d do it again in a heartbeat.”
“I feel like I’ve learned a lot about myself, and it’s been really fun, and it’s great to be able to share your story, your professional life,” she continued.
“It was very positive.”
