Carrie Underwood speaks after technical problems at Trump’s inauguration

Carrie Underwood sang from the heart during the second inauguration of the president Donald Trump despite the technical difficulties.

The 41-year-old country singer performed “America the Beautiful” during a ceremony on Monday (January 20) at the US Capitol in Washington, DC. She was accompanied by the Armed Forces Choir and the US Naval Academy Glee Club, but she did not have musical accompaniment.

After a few musical notes, there was silence. Underwood waited a few minutes for the technical glitch to be fixed before she asked if she should just sing a cappella. “If you know the words, help me out here,” she told the audience.

She sang “America the Beautiful” with help from everyone at the inauguration. Underwood shook his hand Joe Biden, J. D. Vance and Trump before leaving the stage. She wore a light gray sleeveless dress with a hood and a sparkling diamond bracelet and earrings to match.

A spokesperson for the Presidential Inaugural Committee confirmed Underwood’s attendance at the Jan. 13 ceremony after a leaked copy of the program was shared via X.

Underwood expressed at that time about your decision to participate in the event.

“I love our country and am honored to be asked to sing at the inauguration and be a small part of this historic event,” she said in a statement. “I am pleased to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in a spirit of unity and look to the future.”
