Carlo Ancelotti reacts to Real Madrid’s record win
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti could not contain his delight at becoming the Spanish giants’ most decorated manager.
Ancelotti led his staff to 15 titles after watching Madrid win one Victory by 3-0 over the Mexican Pachuca on Wednesday night in the inaugural final of the FIFA Intercontinental Cup. The Italian manager had won twice in the competition’s predecessor, the Club World Cup, and will have the chance to add a 16th crown to the competition. extended version of the tournament next summer
A 15th title took the victorious veteran past the tally of 14 amassed by the legendary figure of Miguel Muñoz in the 1960s. “There are many!” Ancelotti emerged after the game, unable to wipe a pained smile from his face. “I’m very happy, very happy. It’s a success.”
MadridThe smiling head of the ‘s added: “It is something very important. We have closed this 2024 in a spectacular way… we could not do more. But, as always at Real Madrid, we are now thinking about 2025”.
The current Spanish and European champions have not enjoyed a completely successful campaign. After adding the UEFA Super Cup bloated cabinet in August, Madrid have struggled to be at their best since the arrival of Kylian Mbappe. A proliferation of lesions to the key players in the squad has not helped the club’s search for silverware.
“Looking back and seeing that I’ve won so much, for so many years, makes me happy,” said the serial champion. “I’m happy. But always keeping in mind what Real Madrid is. A club that demands spectacular concentration. Keep going. More.”
When asked about his favorite of his 15 titles, Ancelotti reluctantly selected two Champions League triumphs: “It’s hard to say, but ‘La Decima’ (in 2014) was special for me and for Madrid. Also the victory in the Champions League in Paris (in 2022). If I have to choose, it was these two “
Ancelotti he is the only manager to ever win the top-flight title in the big five European leagues. However, his two periods in the Spanish capital have been the most successful. “Winning titles at Real Madrid is easier than elsewhere,” admitted Ancelotti, “you have a fantastic club, a fan base that pushes you and the squad has the best players in the world.”
