CANVA receives AI image generation, interactive encoding, spreadsheets and more
Although there are significant discounts on the part of artists regarding the distribution of AI design tools and the content used to train generative models, companies that make the software for creative work still build AI in their tools. This is a signal of how quickly AI has gained meaning – no matter what their customers say, it seems that graphic design software manufacturers obviously think they can’t survive without applying any form of AI.
The most recent that doubled this strategy is Canva. On Thursday, the company said it was adding a set of AI’s new features to its platform, including AI assistant, the ability to create prompt applications, support for spreadsheets and AI editing tools.
Baking in AI
Called the Canva AI, the company’s AI assistant can perform many tasks, from creating images according to your instructions, to presenting design ideas-to say, security for social media or models for print. He can even write a copy and create documents.
And by joining a new tool called the CANVA code, the assistant can also be prompted to create mini-applications, such as interactive maps or custom calculators, which can then be integrated into designs. Canva has partnered with Anthropic for this feature, Australian designer and chief product director Cameron Adams told TechCrunch.

“Over the years, we have encouraged our teams to make interactive prototypes, as static models do not really represent the experience we are trying to create with CANVA for users. We started seeing teams in Canva to use AI for prototyping. We thought to exist and give it to everyone.
To make it clear, Canva is not the first to do this. Several start -ups such as Cursor., Bolt.new., Kindand Reply have attracted many customers and attention to allow users to encourage their way to creating applications. However, CANVA has an incentive to bake such a function in its software, as it complements its wider sale point as a service used to design everything from marketing security to websites.

CANVA also adds new AI features to its photo editor: one tool allows users to point and click to change the artifacts in photos, while another is a major generator that takes into account lighting and layout. This set of features seems to be aimed at competing with tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom and Pixelmator (acquired by Apple last year).
For the enterprise
Last year Canva started A product focused on the enterprise For better service of larger teams with features such as single input and access management tools. Now this adds spreadsheets to the mixture with sheets of canvas.

In addition to the usual features of the spreadsheet, Canva Sheets comes with a tool called Magic Insights, which, as it is said on tin, the surfaces of the insights extracted from the sheet data. There is also a function called Magic Charts, which automatically converts raw numbers into diagrams full of brand -specific graphics and logos.
The company said Canva Sheets supports integration with Hubspot, Statista, Google Analytics and others to allow users to easily import data.
The artist against the dilemma of AI
Companies like Adobe, Canva and Pixlr may seek to add more value to their proposals, but there remains the fact that inserting AI into design tools causes some voltage. Not only artists are worried about their work, which is used to train AI models without permission, but also a real threat to creative design jobs.
However, Adams does not see this as a clash between AI and creativity; More recently, he sees this as a moment of growth and opportunity in the area.
“I think all our jobs will change as AI is coming as different tools are integrated into every specialty, whether it is design, product management, engineering, marketing or sales,” he said. “I think every job will change and adapt to the help they will receive from AI tools. We just see a huge opportunity,” Adams said.
These changes seem to be here earlier than most expect. Earlier this month the company Leave some technical writers’ staffNine months after the co -founders were reported, his employees were asked to use AI apps anywhere. However, Adams said that these cuts were not related to AI tools that the company builds, but they were a restructuring effect.
