Budget 2025: Revenue Secy Arunish Chawla moved to DIPAM; DIPAM Secy Tuhin Kanta Pandey new Revenue Secy
Budget 2025: A major reshuffle in the finance ministry was announced days ahead of the Union Budget 2025. In a notification on Wednesday, the Cabinet Appointments Committee announced that Revenue Secretary Arunish Chawla will be transferred to the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM), while DIPAM Secretary Tuhi Kanta Pandey will be the new Revenue Secretary. :
The notification stated that Tukhin Kanta Pandey would continue as Finance Secretary.
Meanwhile, Arunish Chawla will additionally hold the posts of Secretary, Department of Public Enterprises, Ministry of Finance, and Secretary, Ministry of Culture, until the appointment of a regular incumbent or until further notice, whichever is earlier.
Chawla was appointed Revenue Secretary in the Ministry of Finance on December 25 last year, while he was Secretary in the Department of Pharmaceuticals in the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers. The post of revenue secretary has fallen vacant after Sanjay Malhotra was appointed as the governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
Pandey, an IAS officer of Odisha cadre of 1987 batch, also held the post of Secretary, Department of Public Enterprises.
The changes come days before the presentation of the Union Budget on February 1. This realignment has been seen as a strategic adjustment by the government as it prepares for a crucial financial planning period ahead.
