Brutalist director supports Aubrey Plaza after Jeff Baena’s death

Brutalist director Brady Corbett mentioned Plaza and Baen, 40, at the end of his speech on Sunday, Jan. 5, after winning the award for the best direction. “My heart goes out to Aubrey Plaza and Jeff’s family,” he said.
Plaza did not appear at the award ceremony before the speech that took place two days after Baena ended his life by suicide at the age of 47. She was an actress is scheduled to host earlier Us Weekly confirmed Baena’s death at his Los Angeles residence on Friday, January 3.
Brothers was an indie filmmaker known for projects such as I Heart Huckabees, Life After Beth, The Little Hours, Horse Girl and Spin me. He often collaborated with Plaza, whom he started dating in 2011 and married almost ten years later.
“My first film was a huge learning experience on all fronts, so working with her was rewarding because we have a shorthand and a close relationship,” Baena said of Plaza in August 2022. Newsweek. “As I’ve done more and more things, I’ve come to appreciate everything she brings.”

The screenwriter noted that there is a Plaza “Awesome” in “everything she does.”
“People usually mark her as the best part of any project she’s in,” he continued at the time. “She’s, like, insanely talented, and I’m so lucky to have her in my life.”
While Plaza has remained largely tight-lipped about her marriage, she used to shared details about her and Baen wedding
“A lot of things happened to me during COVID. Yes, we got married. A big deal,” she shared during a speech in December 2021 on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. “One night we got a little bored. We got married and I’ll tell you how: Onehourmarriage.com. It’s real, look.”
Plaza added, “I created a very quick altar of love in our backyard. The facts of our love, pebbles, smoke, fire. Such things. Then a man from the Alhambra appeared in a Hawaiian shirt with a briefcase (to perform the ceremony). … I don’t remember much, it was vague. But I’m pretty sure it’s legit.”
