Boom’s XB-1 Jet violates the sound barrier for the first time
Boom, launching a new generation of supersonic planes, has achieved a major stage after its test aircraft broke the sound barrier for the first time. Thehe XB-1 “Baby Boom” Piloted by Tristan “Gepetto” Brandenburg, flew through Bell X-1 supersonic corridor over the Mojave Desert. The XB-1 reached a speed of Mach 1.1 at an altitude of 35,000 feet in a few minutes before leaking from the airspace allowed for supersonic trip. The plane will continue to break the sound barrier three times before it returns to the base. This is the first time a civilian plane has broken the sound barrier while flying over the United States.
Engadget covered the boom in a vast profile in 2020.Where the company was preparing to reveal the XB-1 and prepare for test flights. Since then, he has undergone a number of tests, with a series of on -sound test flights starting from March 2024 until the end of the year. In the background, the company signs deals with large airlines, including United and AmericanDeliver passenger jets to a civil service. This craft, called an overture, has a maximum speed of Mach 1.7 – the equivalent of 1 305 miles per hour – which would reduce existing times of half travel. At least for the people who could afford a ticket.
