Bluezki will soon allow you to limit the answers to “only followers”
Social Network Bluesky will soon give its users more control over who can answer their posts. Confirmed by Bluesky developer Paul Fraise, Bluesky will add a new setting “only followers” that users can configure to limit the answers. In addition, he says, Bluesky will create a way for users to set their default response settings. This means that if you always want to limit your answers to followers, for example, you can.
These changes will help to distinguish the application from its largest competitors, the themes of X and Meta of Elon Musk.
The X users can choose between a set of response controls, including “all”, “accounts you follow”, “verified accounts” and “only accounts you mention.” You can also publish in specific communities you are from from which you are A member that also limits their scope.
Meanwhile, in threads, users can choose between “everyone”, “profiles you follow” and “only mentioned”.
Bluski has so far accepted a similar set of settings as their rivals, which allows users to limit the answers to their publications to “all”, “no one”, “mentioned users” and “follow users”. (In addition, you can combine the last two options with any lists you created.)
Offering an answer option for “only followers” is a new twist and the one that Frazee says can help “viral less intense” while reducing the “collapse of context”. This applies when the viral post extends its scope far beyond the original target audience, which can then misunderstand the post or be confused.
The developer notes that the change will only limit who can respond to a publication – this does not affect who can watch it.
The “followers only” response option has been offered by Bluesky users for some time. Frazee himself discussed an option for followers with a user back December 2023S
The main protocol that Powers Bluesky will also be upgraded to maintain the feature down the road.
