Bill Gates traumatizes his parents – and other stories of wild, fogging a young man
He was your best friend and more focused on his ambition than you, reading business magazines as a teenager. His accidental death at the age of 17 pursues this book and your life.
Kent helped to shape me as a promising person. And then Paul read about chip things and he showed it to me. He was two years ahead of me, but he looked for me.
Paul also gave you LSD. Once, Steve Jobs said that LSD was a forming experience and opened your mind in a way that helped him with creativity and design. It does not impress me that acid intake is changing life for you.
I think the batch that Steve received must really have been good for the design and marketing of the products. My God, just think if I had this batch! Yes, I did some crazy things when I was little. Paul deserves some credit for this. By the time we took the work seriously, we no longer did it.
Also briefly write about the known time you have broken up for speeding. Are you scared by spending a night in prison?
No, it was just something funny. They thought it was strange that someone so young had a nice car – what was the story with this child? Were I a drug dealer or something?
You bought Porsche in your early twenty years.
I obviously did not respond to their normal model. We kept enough money around that Paul managed to get down and save me.
Speaking of money, in the recent Netflix series you are hosting, you have made an episode of inequality. You have not condemned the idea of billionaires, but you have advocated for more equality. How would this work?
The world economy has created some hyper -rich people. Like me. And maybe 50 or 60 others. Elon Musk is at the forefront of this list, but with Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, Steve Balmer, Warren Buffett, Michael Bloomberg, there are many people with a stunning level of wealth. I think that’s good. I would have a much more progressive tax system, so I would have about one third as much money as I did. It would still be a giant wealth.
The New York Times has announced that Nvidia Jensen Huang’s CEO is on the way to avoid $ 8 billion in property taxes. When you read this, did you think, “I have to consult his tax lawyer”? Or say it’s not a good thing?
I’m sure I paid more taxes than every living – over $ 12 billion. There are techniques I can I used to borrow against my Microsoft shares and not sell them. But if people diverge to pay less taxes in a legitimate way, their accusation is a little strange. We need to change the tax system.
They are guilty because they use political pressure to keep their doors and reduce IRS funding.
The votes of these billionaires should not affect our tax system. Also, several of the 50 hyper rich are for more progressive taxation. I was surprised that even the Democratic Party did not go very far to do the tax things more progressive. I am a huge property protector, I think it’s a fantastic thing. I would make it even more difficult to avoid.

Let’s talk about artificial intelligence. You have been working with it for years, but you have been slowly accepted by the recent transformation breakthrough of the generative AI. Only Openai made a demonstration of GPT-4 in your home And you had a test for AP biology that you have become bulls on it. What was the reason for your original skepticism?
The idea for AI is all over my entire history with computers. Oddly enough, when I left Harvard to start Microsoft, one of the things I thought I might regret that AI progress in academics could move quickly while making major translators. That turned out to be so wrong. I expected that when we could encode knowledge in a rich way, where he could read a biology textbook and withstand the AP exam, we would explicitly understand how we encode this knowledge. Instead, we found a strange statistical algorithm that we do not understand. Why is GPT working? We have no idea. But when Openai showed me the GPT-4, it stunned me that they had passed a very important threshold. We still have problems with reliability, but now we have a way where I think everyone will be resolved.
