Biden designates 2 national monuments in California
President Biden During his final week in office on Tuesday, he signed proclamations creating the Chuckwalla National Monument and Sáttítla Mountains National Monument in California, which will protect hundreds of thousands of acres.
Due to vandalism, the event was delayed by a week Wildfires raging in Southern California and Biden announced that he wanted to hold the ceremony in the state, but it would have to be moved to the White House.
“We are pursuing the most aggressive climate agenda in the history of the world,” the president said before discussing national monuments in the East Room of the White House. “Our natural wonders are the heart and soul of our nation.”
In his second week as president, he said he signed an executive order that “sets a conservation goal for the first time in history to protect 30% of all our lands and waters across America by 2030″… I call this national campaign America the Beautiful… And over the past four years, we’ve led America to that bold goal, restoring it, creating new national monuments, and preserving hundreds of millions of acres. Waters all over America, from New England to Minnesota, Texas, Colorado, Arizona, Alaska.”

He added, “Over the past four years, I am proud to have followed through on my commitment to protect land and water more than any other president in American history.”

Chuckwalla National Monument will protect more than 600,000 acres of public land in the California desert near Joshua Tree National Park and the Colorado River, according to the National Parks Conservation Association.
